This study addresses the persistent gap between university learning and workplace adaptation among senior undergraduates transitioning from higher education to employment. Despite completing courses related to psychology, organizational behavior, and career development, many students continue to experience career anxiety and difficulties in adapting to real workplace contexts. To respond to this challenge, this study redesigns a senior-level “Workplace Psychology” course using a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach that anchors learning in authentic workplace scenarios. The course integrates ill-structured problems, scenario-based discussions, short video productions, and interactions with early-career alumni as career partners to enhance contextualized learning and learning transfer. A mixed-methods design is employed, including pre- and post-course surveys measuring career anxiety, career adaptability, and learning transfer, as well as qualitative interviews and classroom observations. Preliminary findings suggest that PBL-based, context-oriented course design can effectively reduce students’ career anxiety, enhance perceived workplace adaptability, and support the transfer of academic knowledge to anticipated work situations. This study contributes to the literature on school-to-work transition and adult learning by demonstrating how problem-based and contextualized pedagogy can better prepare undergraduates for early career adjustment.
