The sustained integration of innovative digital technologies in schools remains a critical challenge, particularly in primary education where pedagogical, organizational, and human factors strongly shape implementation outcomes. This study investigates the design, implementation, and long-term sustainability of mobile learning as an educational innovation in a primary school context. The research was conducted as a longitudinal qualitative case study in a Greek experimental primary school over three consecutive school years. Adopting a human-centered and systemic perspective, the study examined how leadership practices, teacher professional learning, and everyday school interactions influenced the integration of mobile devices into teaching and learning. Data were collected through vignettes, questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, focus groups, participant observation, and reflective field notes, and were analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings indicate that sustainable mobile learning integration was not the result of technological availability alone, but emerged through a gradual process of professional learning, distributed leadership, collaborative school culture, and recognition of the pedagogical value of mobile technologies. While pedagogical and organizational dimensions were strongly developed, economic and technical constraints remained persistent challenges. The study contributes empirical evidence on how innovative technologies can be meaningfully embedded in primary education and highlights the importance of human-centered design, ongoing support, and contextual adaptation for achieving sustainable educational change.
