The teaching of oral comprehension in French as a foreign language (FLE) represents a key component of language acquisition in primary education. This study investigates the main challenges affecting oral comprehension instruction among third-year primary school learners in the Algerian context and proposes appropriate pedagogical strategies for improvement. The study adopts a quantitative descriptive methodology based on two questionnaires administered to 30 primary school teachers and 30 parents from different regions of Algeria. The findings reveal several pedagogical and contextual challenges, including insufficient training in oral didactics, limited availability of audio teaching resources, restricted classroom time dedicated to listening activities, limited vocabulary repertoire among learners, and low exposure to French outside school environments. The study recommends strengthening teacher professional development, integrating structured listening comprehension strategies, and using authentic and interactive teaching materials to improve language learning outcomes in primary education. This study may contribute to improving primary foreign language teaching practices and supporting educational policy development in similar non-native contexts.
